Silver plate with a gilt centre overlay over a green enamel centre and universal officers silver plate kings crown.

The 5th came out of the Midlothian Rifle Volunteers (Leith & Corstophine) and was formed as the 5th Battalion in April 1888
The blue helmet was only worn between 1888 and 1905
This particular Helmet Plate 1901 - 1905.
The Battalions HQ was at Steads Place Leith and latterly Dalmeny Street Leith Walk
