Made in copper.
it has the swallow tails missing from the scrolls "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAIS"
And has modern bolts fitted to the reverse with araldite glue.

As worn in the Crimean war of 1852 . The Shako was a Cardboard barrel covered with taupe felt, bordered at the top with a scarlet braid and at the bottom with a black leather band. Black leather visor. Tricolor metal cockade. Helmet plate. Chinstraps composed of two leather chin straps covered in black velvet and covered with a copper plate stamped with a decreasing series of scales; each chin strap is attached to the shako by a round rosette stamped with a flaming grenade.
