Circa late 1960s, this was a originally designed for a Queen's Crown helmet plate, however the costs for making a QC helmet back plate were too much so the helmet plate centre was fitted to old stock QVC helmet plates, With the QVC removed and a QC (WOII badge) fitted in place by base workshops. Not an easy badge to find in original condition. Excellent and scarce.
