PRE-WW2 FLYING HELMET

An original suede brown leather flying helmet made by 'Carlton & Co Lucknow' and dating from the 1930s.
This style of helmet was extremely popular with the RAF as well as with civilian flyers during the inter-war period. 'Carlton & Co Lucknow' (better known for being a Saddler and equestrian Leather)
With two Royal Warrants.
The helmet features a brown suede leather exterior and chamois lining to the interior. It features fitted and fixed receiver sections of the gosport tubes. There is a chin strap but the retaining buckle is missing. A small tab and buckle are located to the rear of the helmet and is used to hold goggle straps in place.
